Hello and welcome to our site! We’re so happy to have you here at Shape it Up Fit. We are Kirk and Michaela. We were married in 2010 and have 3 kids who make our life crazy and so sweet. Health and fitness have become passions of ours over the last few years and we’ve noticed huge changes in all aspects of our lives when we’ve made our health a priority.
And that’s why we decided to help others along their personal journey to health and happiness. We’ve literally tried it all when it comes to diets, exercises, and supplements, and want to help others avoid the same mistakes we made as well as offer tips of things we’ve learned along the way.
OUR HEALTH JOURNEY
Both of us kind of had a breakthrough moment at different times in our life in terms of our health. Michaela never really exercised when she was growing up. She was always skinny and never had to watch what she ate. That all changed when she had her first baby. Suddenly weight started piling on and wouldn’t come off very easily. Then came baby #2 and post-partum depression set in. A few months later, she knew she needed to take control of her health. She started exercising and eating right and her physical–and mental–health did a 180. She learned that in order to be the best person and mom she could be, she needed to take care of herself physically and mentally, and exercising and proper nutrition directly impacted both of those.
Kirk started working out as a teenager to build muscle. For a few years he exercised on and off, but he never focused much on nutrition. He didn’t have any weight to lose, didn’t have any major health issues, and didn’t think nutrition was a priority since he was just building muscle. But then he turned 30 and ended up in the hospital for a week due to a blocked bile duct which caused a multitude of other serious problems. He was also diagnosed with high blood pressure. His doctor told him he needed to change his diet and avoid fatty foods. He knew he needed to make nutrition a priority for his health and his family, so he followed the doctor’s advice and ended up not needing to take any medications for his high blood pressure. Good nutrition reversed his condition and he has been healthy ever since.
HEALTH AND FITNESS CAN BE OVERWHELMING
In a world full of fad diets, hundreds of different Youtube workouts, and various diet pills and other supplements, getting started on your health and fitness journey can be daunting. It’s overwhelming even if you’ve already started your journey. Believe us when we say we’ve tried it all–every fad diet, Instagram influencer program, MLM product, supplement, diet pill, metabolism booster…you name it. We know what works and what doesn’t. We want to help you succeed and reach your goals, whatever they may be.
A lot of our content will be product reviews, recommendations, and tips to live your best life and be the best person you can be. We’re here for you and are committed to helping you as much as we can.
FEEL GOOD, DO GOOD
We know from experience that when you feel good, you do good. And if you don’t feel good physically or mentally, you don’t feel good. We are finally in a place where we feel good, so we want to do good by helping you transform from ordinary into extraordinary.
